enry Thelbert HarrisHenry Thelbert Harris, 81, of Danbury, husband of Adele (Monroe) Harris, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

Mr. Harris was born in Gretna, Virginia (Pittsylvania County) October 24, 1932, son of the late James and Lucy (Kelly) Harris. He attended Pittsylvania County schools.

A resident of Danbury since 1956 coming from Virginia, Mr. Harris was a retired deliveryman for Danbury Plumbing Supply Co. and in later years was a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.

He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Danbury and served as an Usher and was a member of the Carter L. Marshall #1556 Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.

Mr. Harris enjoyed watching wrestling and was an avid baseball and Uconn Women and Men’s basketball fan.

In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, Mr. Harris is survived by four daughters, Dottie Harris, Doreen Barnes (Kerzent) and Maxine Perkins (Jerry) all of Danbury and Cynthia Furman (Michael) of Florence, SC; a daughter in law, Susan Bush Harris (the late Thelbert J. Harris) of New Milford; two brothers, Jessie Harris of High Point, NC and George Harris of New Haven, CT; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents and son, Mr. Harris was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 12 noon at the New Hope Baptist Church, 12 Aaron B. Samuels Blvd., Danbury with Rev. Leroy G. Parker, Senior Pastor officiating.

Interment will take place in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at New Hope Church, Danbury on Monday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Carter L. Marshall Service will take place at 11:30AM followed by the Funeral at 12 Noon.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury has been entrusted to the arrangements.
