Donald Dessereau, 85, of Newtown CT formerly of Danbury, widower of Yvette (Daigle) Dessereau passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 after a sudden diagnosis of cancer. He leaves behind 3 daughters; Darcy and her husband Ronald Kuczenski of Cheshire CT, Doreen Salerno of Cave Creek AZ and Lisette and her husband Christopher Morrell of Danbury CT. He also leaves 3 grandchildren; Joseph Salerno, Christopher Morrell and Ethan Morrell. In addition he leaves his 2 sisters; Betty Burdick of Brewster NY and Leona Davis of Spring Hill Florida.  Donald served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and wore his Korean War hat proudly. He loved gardening, square dancing, collecting all sorts of things, and taking in stray animals that no one else wanted. He also leaves behind his Cockatoo, Bonnie, who was good company to him his last years.  Donald had made his wishes clear, he wanted no wake or services.  In his last days he said “ I don’t want anyone to be sad for me, I have had a great 85 years and just want to leave this earth quietly, peacefully,  and painlessly”, which he did all three. His family would like to thank his caregivers at Danbury Hospital, Synergy homecare and Masonicare Hospice & Home Care for being instrumental in making his final wishes happen. If any contributions would like to be made in his name, please donate to a local animal shelter or animal rescue organization
