Edward G. Bishop, Sr.


Mr Edward BishopEdward G. Bishop, Sr., 80, of Danbury, husband of the late Louise (Saviano) Bishop, died on Thursday morning, October 23, 2014 at Danbury Health Care.

Mr. Bishop was born in Patterson, NY, April 13, 1934 and was raised in Bridgeport, CT until he became an area resident in 1950. He attended Bridgeport and Danbury schools.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and owner and operated his own floor sanding and refinishing business.

Mr. Bishop was a member of the VFW Post 149 of Danbury and the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by three sons, Edward (Laurie) Bishop, Jr., Robert (Carole) Bishop and Timothy (Janet) Bishop; two brothers, Ronnie Kayser and Gary Kayser; three sisters, Kay Kayser, Shelly Nadeau and Eleanor Byr; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren, sisters in law; brothers in law and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his mother, Hazel Kayser; sister, Gloria Tilford and four brothers, William Bishop, Carl Bishop, Ralph Bishop and Terry Kayser.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
