Marianne (Bendig) Wittkamp

Marianne (Bendig) Wittkamp, 77, of Danbury, wife of the late Edmund Wittkamp, died on Saturday, September 14 at the Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Wittkamp was born in Frankfurt, Germany, May 3, 1936, daughter of Artur and Maria Bendig. She attended schools in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1959 first settling in Wilton, Connecticut. An area resident since 1961, Mrs. Wittkamp enjoyed knitting as well as teaching knitting classes to local residents. She assisted in food preparation at the Danbury Senior Center and throughout the area.

She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown.

Mrs. Wittkamp is survived by four sons, Gerhard and his wife, Angela, Uwe, Peter and his wife Carol and Richard; as well as one daughter, Monika Carley; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The Wittkamp family is forever grateful for the friendship and kinship provided by Lynne Taborsak and Diane Cohrs.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wittkamp was predeceased by a daughter in law, Bonnie Heller Wittkamp.

Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Monday, September 23rd, 2013 in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Danbury at 1pm.

There will be no calling hours.
