Peter Wilkes

 

Peter Wilkes, age 60, of Newtown, husband of Brenda (Rangoni) Wilkes, unexpectedly passed away on August 5, 2013 at New Milford Hospital. Peter was born June 1, 1953 in Danbury, a son of Sarane “Sally” (Ives) Wilkes and the late John Wilkes, Jr.

He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury Hospital in the Class of 1971.

In addition to his wife and mother, Peter is survived by his brothers, Thomas Wilkes (wife Christine) of New Milford, Robert Wilkalis of Danbury; a sister Sarane Rogers of Texas and niece Kelsey.

In addition to his father, Peter is predeceased by a brother, Richard Wilkes.

Peter’s wife Brenda survives him with many wonderful memories in the thirty-three years they shared together. He loved golf, crossword puzzles and his newly acquired Harley. Pete’s collection of golf shoes lined up his trunk ready for a game. Those that saw them were amazed.

He was a member of the Heritage Village Country Club.

Peter was diagnosed with cancer in October 2012. He purchased his Harley a month ago and enjoyed many a beautiful day riding prior to his death.

Prior to his illness, Peter was employed at Dunmore Corporation of Brewster, NY where he had many friends that kept in touch throughout his illness.

In early years, Peter was employed at the former Lavelle’s Wagon Wheel Restaurant of Brookfield.

His memory will live on with all the lives he touched. A quiet man with a big heart and beautiful smile, he will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1:30 PM in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury with Rev, Carolyn Legg of Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT officiating.

Interment will take place in Ives Plot of Wooster Cemetery, Danbury at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM.
