Carolina G. (Melo) Silva, 92, of Danbury, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Filosa Nursing Home.

Carolina was born in Fial, Azores, Portugal on February 20, 1921; daughter of the late Jose and Amelia (Costa) Melo. She was married to the late Eduino S. Silva in 1950. Carolina arrived in the U.S. in 1952 and settled in New Haven. She worked in manufacturing in the New Haven and Hamden area. After Eduino passed in 1993, Carolina and daughter Elise moved from West Haven to Danbury to be with family. Her daughter Elise passed in October 2011.

Carolina will be remembered for her warm personality and engaging smile. She endeared all who met her and made long lasting friendships. She enjoyed spending time with family at family events and gatherings. Carolina was always at the ready with a homemade cheese cake or baked good; which were always enjoyed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and sister Teresa. Carolina is survived by her brother, Jose de Melo of Derby and niece Caroline of Virginia; nephews, Joseph, Augusto and Alberto DaSilva and their families of Danbury and niece Emily (Silva) Clifton, nephews Gene, Edward Silva and their families of California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 5:30 PM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Interment will be private and at the direction of family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Gregory the Great School for the benefit of the student activity fund, as Carolina enjoyed children and watching them play and grow.
