Bernard I. Siller

Bernard I. Siller, 88, of Ridgefield, formerly of Danbury and Bridgeport, died on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.

He was the husband of Barbara (Berman) Siller.

Mr. Siller was born in Bridgeport, November 8, 1924, the only child of Harry and Eva (Webb) Siller.  He attended Bridgeport schools, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Connecticut, received his Master of Science, Sixth year advanced study in Administration and Supervision and his 7th year in Reading from the University of Bridgeport.  He taught in the Bridgeport and Stamford School systems.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and prior to teaching was an Off Broadway actor.

An area resident from 1969 coming from Bridgeport, he was a member of the Stamford and Connecticut Teacher’s Association and served in leadership capacities over the years.

In addition to his wife, Barbara of fifty-eight years, Mr. Siller is survived by a son, Randy Siller and his wife, Sheri of New York, NY and three grandchildren, Meredith Julia Siller, Esq., Stefanie Jada Siller and Isabella Madison Siller.

Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 2 PM in the United Jewish Cemetery, 200 Grays Bridge Road, Brookfield, CT with Rabbi Clifford Librach of the United Jewish Center, Danbury officiating.

Contributions in Mr. Siller’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
