Mary Kolwicz

Mary (Deakin) Kolwicz, 90, of Danbury, wife of the late Thaddeus H. Kolwicz, died surrounded by her loving family at her home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Mrs. Kolwicz was born in Danbury, February 23, 1923, a daughter of the late George and Ethel (Wright) Deakin. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School. In early years, Mrs. Kolwicz was employed with the Southern New England Telephone Company and in later years was a homemaker.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, playing cards and crossword puzzles.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Mrs. Kolwicz was a member of St. Peter Parish.

She was a loving and caring mother who took pride and enjoyment in her family.

Mrs. Kolwicz is survived by four sons, Clifton W. Kolwicz, Thomas G. Kolwicz and his wife, Darlene, Thaddeus H. Kolwicz, Jr. and his wife, Keri and Kevin W. Kolwicz; two daughters, Jeannie Barnhart and Marybeth Beck and her husband, John; a brother, George Deakin and his wife, Dee; a sister, Anne Durkin and her husband, William; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kolwicz was predeceased by a brother, David Deakin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Peter Church, Danbury.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Friens will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4 PM to 8 PM.

The family would like to thank Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT for their kindness, care and compassion.

A special thank you is extended to Joan Gilbert for the care given or mother over the past several years and the most recent care which allowed our mother to be in peace and comfort in the surroundings of her home.
