Jennie K. Hajj

Jennie Katherine Hajj, 93, of Danbury, wife of the late Edward Hajj, died on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York.

The eldest daughter of Samuel and Naomi (Khoury) Hammed, Jennie was born in Lawrence, MA, August 25, 1916 and resided in the Lawrence area until she moved to Danbury.  She has been a Danbury resident for the past seventy-five years.

She was employed at Remington Arms, Inc. during the WWII build-up and in more recent years was associated with her husband in the operation of golf course snack bar concessions.

Mrs. Hajj was active in years past in fundraising for the benefit the schools of her children, Sacred Heart of Jesus School and The Wooster School.

She was an avid reader and aspiring poet.

Mrs. Hajj was a member of St. Ann’s Melkite Church of Danbury and of its Ladies Guild.

She is survived by a son, Edward A. Hajj and a daughter, Suzanne N. Hajj, both of New York, NY.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Anthony of Long Branch, NJ and Mary, of Stratford, CT.

The Rite of Burial was held on Friday at 10AM in St. Ann Melkite Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Rd. (RT 39N) Danbury with the Rev. Michael Skrocki, officiating.

Burial followed in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
