Margaret “Peggy” Gorman

On January 25, 2013, Margaret M. “Peggy” (Meaney) Gorman entered eternal life.  Peggy was the devoted wife of Thomas J. Gorman of New Fairfield, loving mother of Dawn (James) Lipke of New Fairfield and Monica Gorman of Bethel, cherished grandmother of Dasha Lipke and Andriy Paparo, sister to the late Frank Meaney Jr. and aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gorman was born in the Bronx, NY, January 20, 1941, daughter of the late Francis and Julia (Schmidt) Meaney.  She attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School and graduated from Cathedral High School, Bronx, NY.

Peggy and Tom were married December 1, 1962.

A resident of New Fairfield since 1976 coming from the Bronx and often referred to as a “BIC” (Bronx Irish Catholic), she was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish, New Fairfield and first was employed working with persons of special needs at R.E.S.C.U.E. and later at the Danbury Hospital where she was an environmental services supervisor retiring after twenty-years of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM in St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
