Robin J. Disston

Robin J. Disston, 81, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT and of West Palm Beach, Florida, died January 30, 2013. Mr. Disston was born in New York City to Harry Disston (later Col. NY 7th Regiment, Brigadier General, Ret.) and Valerie (Duval) Disston. Robin attended the University of Virginia. His first job was with Pitney-Bowes in Manhattan. He later went to work for Brown and Company (financial printers) and then started his own shareholder services company in Greenwich called Disston and Associates. Robin enjoyed business and entrepreneurship. He was never afraid of failure. He pursued a variety of interests including carpentry, antique cars, remodeling houses, and real estate. Never living far from large bodies of water, Robin was an active sailor throughout his adult life and loved the Sound. His favorite homes were close to the Sound and the Inland Waterway.

Robin is survived by three children, Craig Disston, Todd Disston and Leslie Baker and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Geoffrey. Interment will be private and at the direction of the family. The family welcomes Robin's friends to a memorial service to be held February 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Ave., Greenwich.
