James R. Deakin

James R. Deakin, 78, of Danbury, husband of Patricia (DeRosa) Deakin died on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Danbury Hospital shortly after his admission.

Mr. Deakin, affectionately known as “Tiger Deakin” was born in Danbury, December 29, 1934, a son of James W. and Mary Irene (Hanish) Deakin. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Danbury High School.

A Master Carpenter with Carpenter’s Union #210, Mr. Deakin was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran having served during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Danbury and served as an altar server and usher.

A behind the scenes volunteer assisting his wife Pat in her community and church endeavors, he truly lived his life dedicated to his wife and family. A NY Giants and N Y Mets fan, he will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, Mr. Deakin is survived by a son, James W. (wife Lisa) Deakin of New Milford; two daughters, Mary (husband James) LiVigni of Mendon, MA and Kathleen (husband Roger) Dean of Danbury; a sister, Karlene (husband John) of New Preston, CT; nine grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashley, Kathleen, Michael, Cory, Rachel, Zachary, Emma and Madison and several nieces and nephews.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 372 Main St., Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
