Catharine V. Daley

Catharine V. Daley, 92, of Danbury, wife of the late Alexander J. Daley, died on Saturday evening, July 6, 2013 at Maplewood of Danbury.

Mrs. Daley was born in New York, NY, February 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (McGinnis) Brown.

She attended New York schools and graduated from Cathedral High School of Manhattan. Mrs. Daley retired from McGraw-Hill of New York at the age of sixty-five.

A resident of Danbury for the past seven years coming from Astoria, NY, she was a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish of Danbury.

Mrs. Daley was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, travel and most especially the time spent with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Eileen Saluga of Brookfield, Jane Daley of Norwalk, CT and Cathie Daley of Vestal, NY; two sons, Michael Daley of New York, NY and Brian Daley of River Vale, NY; four grandchildren, Alison Lochridge, Alex Daley, Casey Ives and Sheila Daley; five great grandchildren, Kate Lochridge, Liam Lochridge, Kirsten Daley, Kiara Daley and Sabryna Daley and many nieces and nephews especially in Canada.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Daley was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Gray and by a sister, Marie Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury, CT.

Interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn, L.I., NY.

There will be no calling hours.
