Evelyn A. Chory

Evelyn ChoryEvelyn A. Chory, 84, of Danbury, wife of the late Anton G. Chory, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Chory was born in Danbury, March 21, 1929, daughter of the late Antous M. and Florence (Shaker) Antous. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1947.

A homemaker, Mrs. Chory was employed in years past as a retail sales clerk with Howland Dept. Store and J.C. Penny. She was also employed at the Risdon Corporation.

A lifelong Danbury resident, she was a member of the Ma-Asser Society, Lebanon American Club Auxiliary, St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild. She was a recipient of the prestigious Maronite Catholic Church award, The Massabki Medal for her dedication and service to the Maronite Church.

Mrs. Chory and her sister, Marion Shaker in past years were daily visitos and patrons of the Food Court at the Danbury Mall and developed many a friendship.

She was an avid cook and baker and was the happiest when she was able to gather her entire family at the dinner table weekly. Family was a very important in her life. She will be sorely missed by all of them and many more her life touched upon.

Mrs. Chory is survived by a daughter, Toni A. Glynn and her husband, James Glynn Jr. of Danbury; two sons, Anthony G. Chory and his wife, Loretta of Trumbull and Mark S. Chory and his wife, Jean of Danbury; three brothers, Richard Antous and his wife, Mary, Ronald Antous and his wife, Joan and Raymond Antous and his wife, Najla all of Danbury; a sister, Marion Shaker; Sitti as she is affectionately known is also survived by six grandchildren, James (Lindsay) Glynn III, Jacqueline (Vincent) DiGilio, Stacey Glynn, David (Elizabeth) Glynn, Emma Chory and Rebecca Chory; four great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with Msgr. David George officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2013 between the hours of 4PM and 8 PM at St. Anthony Church.

Contributions in Mrs. Chory’s memory may be made to St. Anthony Church Scholarship Fund, 17 Granville Ave. or the Lebanon American Club Scholarship Fund, 22 West St., both of Danbury, CT 06810.
