Lucian C. Bielicki

Lucian “Lou” Bielicki, 88, of Ridgefield, husband of the late Lottie (Grodzinski) Bielicki, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Bielicki was born in Chicago, IL, August 3, 1924, son of the late Stephen and Stella (Orga) Bielicki, attended Chicago schools and graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

He relocated to NJ from Chicago where he became employed with American Can Corporation and became president of its Americology division. Mr. Bielicki headed up and constructed one of the country’s very first Waste-to-Energy plants located in Milwaukee, WI

Upon retirement from American Can in 1979, Mr. Bielicki established his own recycling business known as Bi-Metal Corporation based in Ridgefield which is presently operated as a family business by his three children.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1970 coming from New Jersey, he was a member of the Ridgefield Men’s Club and Founders Hall. He attended St. Mary Church with his wife, Lottie in years past, prior to her passing.

Mr. Bielicki  was devoted to his family and enjoyed fishing, gardening and boating

He is survived by a daughter, Linda B. Hemphill and her husband, Gary of Blackstone, MA; two sons, Mark S. Bielicki and his wife, Phyllis of Norwalk, CT and Thomas M. Bielicki and his wife, Siobhan of Trumbull, CT and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 2 PM in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield with the Rev. Mark D. Allan, officiating.

Interment will be private and at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 12 Noon until the time of service.

Contributions in Mr. Bielicki’s memory may be made to the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge or to R.O.A.R. (Ridgefield Operation of Animal Rescue) 45 South St., both of Ridgefield, CT  06877.
