Olga Washkowich

Olga Washkowich, 90, of Bethel, formerly of Danbury, wife of the late Michael Washkowich died on Sunday evening, December 2, 2012 at Bethel Health Care.

Mrs. Washkowich was born in Montreal, Canada, June 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Hilary and Marcella (Rusiak) Kropodra.  She was raised and educated in Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1953, first settling in Detroit, Michigan and became an area resident in 1957.

Mrs. Washkowich was a seamstress by profession and was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Danbury, a member of the Golden Dome Bakers and the former Altar Society.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Surviving are two daughters, Julie Straiton of Bethel and Barbara Voutas and her husband, Bruce of Brookfield; a sister, Anne Pawlak and her husband, Mark of Bethel and two grandsons, Scott Straiton and Bruce Voutas, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 10 AM in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 13 Pembroke Rd., Danbury with the Rev. John Cigan officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Danbury.

There will be no calling hours.
