Joseph S. Urban

Joseph S. Urban, 92 of Ridgefield, died on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2012 at the Danbury Hospital shortly after his admission. He had been stricken ill at home.

Mr. Urban was born in New York, NY, September 14, 1919, son of Stephen and Emilie (Pausik) Urban.  He attended New York schools and graduated from Fordham University.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Urban was employed for many years by Texaco Oil Corporation as a Human Resource Executive.

He traveled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed traveling with his family on many cruises. In addition, enjoyed the fine cuisine offered by Dimitri’s, the Early Bird Café and the Inn at Ridgefield.  Always a gentleman, his gentle nature and sense of humor will be missed by all.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1955, he was an active member of the Ridgefield Kiwanis Club and St. Mary Parish.

Mr. Urban is survived by several cousins, Natalie Carroll, Lynn Nestuck and Bob and Pat Buckley all of New Jersey.  He also leaves many Ridgefield friends who became part of his extended family:  Dina Casavecchia and Dante and Joyce Ligi as well as his devoted caregivers, Kwadwo Ankomah and Laura Switzer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Urban was predeceased by three sisters, Mathilde, Ella and Anne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:15am in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.
