Denise (Heslin) Shea

Denise (Heslin) Shea, 75, of Danbury, died April 22, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.

Denise Shea was born June 27, 1936 to Frank and Cecelia  (Adler)  Heslin, in Brooklyn, N.Y.  Denise was always a good student, scoring high marks in class work, and one of only two people in Brooklyn awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School.  There, she continued to excel, becoming fluent in Latin.  Denise then joined the Carmelites to train to be a nun.  But the Lord had other plans.

Denise left the Carmelites and then met and married Edward Shea, later becoming the mother to four boys.  A daunting task by itself, she still found time to volunteer and help with community events.  In addition to her full-time job of raising four boys, she loved to travel, cook (apple pie, her specialty), and had a passion for dancing, waltz being her favorite.  Denise always brought a smile to others when she entered a room.  She radiated a joy and zest for life that was contagious.  Lastly, she was one of the most gracious and polite people one would ever encounter.

Denise is survived by her brother and his wife, Kevin and Joanne Heslin; 4 sons, Martin, Brian, Patrick, and Kevin; 4 grandchildren; and 8 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her once husband, Edward Shea, and her beloved dog, Brimpke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 1:15 PM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield with the Rev. Peter K. Smolik, Parochial Vicar officiating.
