Paul Scalice

Paul Scalice, 96 of Danbury, formerly of New Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Bethel Health Care Center.  Mr. Scalice was born in New York, NY on May 2, 1916 and attended New York schools.  During the Great Depression, at the age of 14, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps building roads and bridges in the state of Utah.  He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and later owned and operated a trucking business in N.Y.C. for many years.  He retired to his summer home in New Fairfield, CT where he lived with his wife Catherine (Kitty) who predeceased him in 1983. They were married 42 years. Mr. Scalice is survived by his daughter, Marie Dell’Olio of Jackson, NJ and predeceased by her husband, Tony.  His daughter, Lillian Scalogna and her husband, Paul of Port Jefferson, NY.  His son, Anthony Scalice and wife, Gina of Las Cruses, NM and his daughter, Kathleen Porcaro and her husband, Bob of Danbury, CT. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered for his sense of wit and humor, strong work ethic and most of all his devotion to his wife and family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 9:30 AM in St. Peter Church, Danbury.  Burial will follow in Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield.  The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
