Charles M. Plank

Charles M. Plank, 80 of Danbury, husband of Georgina “Jean” (Weeks) Plank died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Wednesday evening, February 1, 2012.

Mr. Plank was born in Stamford, CT, April 1, 1931, a son of the late Charles and Marie (Ede) Plank.  He attended Stamford schools and was a retired group leader for Pitney-Bowes Corporation having been employed from 1959 to 1992 at their Stamford and Danbury locations.

Mr. and Mrs. Plank have been residents of Danbury since 1964 coming from Stamford and former member of the United Methodist Church of Danbury.

After his retirement, Mr. Plank became a starter at Richter Park Golf Course.

In early years, Mr. Plank, an avid sportsman, participated in the sport of boxing, was a prize fighter and was a member and former president of the Stamford Boxing Club.  He also participated in fast pitch softball, duckpin bowling, golf, fishing, gardening, woodworking and writing prose and poetry.

Mr. Plank had won the City of Danbury Duckpin Bowling Tournament in years past.

He enjoyed trips to the casinos and was an NY Giants fan.

A great family man, he will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jean; two sons, Charles H. Plank and his wife, Sandi of New Milford, CT and Kevin S. Plank and his wife, Gale of Danbury; two brothers, John Plank and his wife, Rosy of Milford, CT and Stanley Wykowski and his wife, Audrey of Florida; two sisters, Dolores Dellipaoli and her husband, Tom of South Carolina and Mary Novinsky of California; a brother in law, Harold Weeks of Florida; six grandchildren, Christopher Plank and his wife, Melissa, Shannon Curiosol and her husband, Joe, Christina Plank, Heather Stillson and her husband, Kenneth III, Kelly Grover and Robin McAllister; two great grandchildren, Cassandra Plank Pinho and Wyatt Plank as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parent, Mr. Plank was predeceased by a brother, George Plank.

The Plank family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to Regional Hospice and Home Care for their care and compassion extended to Charles and family during this time.  Special thanks to Dr. Martin Williams, Prisca, Astrid and Jennifer of Regional Hospice and Home Care.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11 AM in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Mel Kawakami, senior pastor of the Newtown United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 2 PM to 5 PM.
