Susan Pelini, age 60, of Apollo Beach, FL and Ridgefield CT, formerly of New Rochelle, NY passed away on Saturday June 2, 2012 after a long illness at South Bay Hospital, Sun City, FL.

Susan was a devoted wife and mother. Her home was always open to holiday celebrations and the marking of special events with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and a superlative hostess; all were always welcome.

She had great compassion and shared it with many friends. She had an innate ability to always find the best solutions to a problem and the silver lining in any bad situation.  Her strength, her selflessness and her devotion to her family and friends set her apart in today’s world.

Until her illness, Susan taught in the Ridgefield CT. Public schools for many years, devoting herself to children with special needs. She was infinitely patient with her students and tireless in the assistance she provided to them. She touched the lives of all who knew her in a very special way.  Prior to having children, she was an associate buyer at JC Penney in N.Y. She graduated from Mercy College and received her master’s from the College of New Rochelle.

Susan is the daughter of Marie (nee Marinack) Malanies of Port Charlotte Fl. and New Rochelle and the late Frank Malanies. She was also the daughter in law of Theresa Pelini of New Rochelle, NY and the late Dr. Mark Pelini.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Gregory Pelini and her three sons;  Mark of Valrico, FL., Steven of Tampa, FL. and Robert of Apollo Beach FL,

She is also survived by a sister, Jill (Jacob) Goodwin  of Larchmont, NY; a nephew, Gabe Goodwin of  NY, NY; a sister in law, Cynthia (Jaime) Peliicer  and  two nieces, Olivia and Valeria, all of San Francisco, CA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 5 PM to 8PM.
