Marie (Briscoe) Maki

Marie Joyce (Briscoe) Maki, 80 of Newtown, CT passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2012.  Her husband, children and grandchildren were by her side. 

 Born in Stamford on September 29, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Grace (Harris) Briscoe.

  She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Douglas Jack Maki; her daughters, Karen (James) Varian, June (Timothy) Frost, Eileen (Douglas) Frattaroli and Linnea (Michael) Hushion all of Newtown.  Her sons, Daniel Maki of Poughkeepsie, NY and Matthew Maki of Monroe.  Her beloved sisters, Eileen (Donald) Hain of Cornwall and Jeanne Rudisill of Greenwich and their children.  Also survive are her 17 grandchildren, Alyssa and Jake Maki of Stamford; Daniel, Matthew and Grace Frost; Michael, Laura, Gregory and Julia Frattaroli; Leah, Ella and Alexa Hushion all of Newtown, Jeffrey and Allison Maki of Monroe and Anthony, Emma and Katherine Maki also of Newtown. 

Two sons, Douglas J. (Shimmy) Maki, Jr. and John Joseph Maki preceded her in death

Marie graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Stamford and attended New Haven State Teacher's College.  Her greatest joy in life was to be with her husband and family.  She enjoyed traveling and spent many wonderful times in Maine, Cape Cod and the upper peninsula of Michigan with her family.

She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN Huskies Women's basketball teams.

Marie was the most loving, caring and giving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.  She will be truly missed by all who knew her. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary, 26 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel. 
Interment will be private.
