Barbara A. Lynch

Barbara A. (Hurtado) Lynch, 86 of Mystic, CT formerly of Danbury wife of the late Joseph A. Lynch, Jr. died on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Avalon Health Center, Mystic.

Mrs. Lynch was born in East Providence, RI, August 16, 1925, a daughter of the late John P. and Annie (Keagan) Hurtado.  She attended Rhode Island schools and attained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and entered the teaching profession.  She later received her Master’s in Education from the University of Hartford.

 For several years, she taught for the Department of Defense in numerous overseas assignments.  IN 1966, Barbara moved to Stamford, CT continuing her teaching career and became a guidance counselor at Stamford High School.

Upon retirement, Barbara and her husband Joe resided in Danbury, Stuart, FL and Wilmington, NC.  After her husband’s death, Barbara moved from Danbury to Mystic, CT.

Mrs. Lynch is survived by many cousins including Sandra Barkley of Rhode Island, Virginia Nourie and Bruce Nourie both of Florida. 

Barbara will be remembered by her family and friends as a good and caring friend and teacher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM in St. Peter Church, 115 Main St., Danbury with Father Gregg D. Mecca, Pastor officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

There will be no calling hours.

The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
