Harvey W. Johnsen

Harvey Wulfe Johnsen, 86 of Ridgefield, husband of the late Helen (Alexander) Johnsen died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Ridgefield Crossing.

Mr. Johnsen was born in Wellesley, MA, September 13, 1925, son of Anton and Clara (Wulfe) Johnsen.  He attended Wellesley schools and upon graduation from high school joined the United States Navy.  He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving as a signalman and fighting the Battle at Iwo Jima.

A resident of Stamford since 1955 coming from Massachusetts, Mr. Johnsen was first employed with the former Parker-Herbecks Company of Stamford and later joined Hudson Paper Company which became Eastern Paper Co. of Stamford retiring eighteen years ago at the age of sixty-six as a warehouse manager.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1958 coming from Stamford, Mr. Johnsen was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield, served as a past deacon and Sunday school instructor.

He enjoyed golf and woodworking. He often built bluebird houses for neighbors and residents at the Crossing.

Two daughters and their spouses survive;  Karen Casagrande and her husband, Gordon and Amy Montanari and her husband, Andy as well as two grandchildren, Christopher Casagrande and Shaena Montanari.

Funeral service and interment will be private.

There will be no calling hours.
