Gregory H. Heaslip

Gregory HeaslipGregory H. Heaslip, 54, long-time resident of Ridgefield, CT, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 28, after a long and courageous battle with thyroid cancer.

Greg was born on March 29, 1957, in New Rochelle, NY and grew up on Long Island and in New Jersey, graduating from Willingboro High School in Willingboro, NJ.  He received his B.A. in philosophy from Colgate University in 1979.  He and his wife, Gail, were classmates at Colgate and met in 1978.  They married in 1983 in Sharon, CT.  Greg spent his entire career in Human Resources, first at Mutual of New York, then at Ryder, Inc. in Miami, FL.  After a brief stint at GE Capital, he was hired by Pepsico, Inc. in 1988.  He received the HR Excellence Award, the highest award that PepsiCo offers, several times for his distinguished leadership and results delivering key initiatives in Health Care, Retirement, and Human Resources.  He also received the top HR Leadership Award while spending time at Pepsi Bottling Company.  In 2003 he was promoted to Vice President of Benefits.  He had recently retired from Pepsico after nearly 24 years of service.

A wonderful husband and father, Greg adored watching his daughters, Emily and Jamie, compete on the soccer fields and the track.  He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, movies, and days at the beach.  Traveling abroad with family was also a highlight of his life.  His dry wit was appreciated by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife and two daughters, Greg is survived by his parents, Harold Heaslip of Savannah, GA, and Clayre Heaslip of Redlands, CA, and three siblings: Carey Heaslip of Westampton Township, NJ, Jennifer Heaslip of Glendale, CA, and Tim Heaslip of Redlands, CA.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT (203-438-6597).
