Evelyn (Ellis) George

Evelyn (Ellis) George, 85, of Danbury, CT and Lake Worth, FL died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Wellington Regional Medical Center, Lake Worth shortly after her admission.

Mrs. George was the wife of the late Judge Louis George.

She was born in Danbury, July 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Miled and Labeeby (Michael) Ellis.  Mrs. George attended local schools, graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1944 and the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing in the Class of 1948.

A lifelong area resident, she became a resident of Florida in 1984.

Mrs. George was a member of St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church of Danbury and of its Ladies Guild and St. Nicholas Melkite Church of Delray, FL.  She was also a member of the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Lebanon American Club Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sister, Helen E. Moses of Danbury and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Mrs. George, in addition to her husband and parents, was predeceased by two sisters, Mayme Lataif and Lorraine Jowdy and by three brothers, Joseph Ellis, Edward Ellis and Louis Ellis.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10 AM in St. Ann Melkite Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Rd. (Rte. 39N), Danbury with Archimandrite Michael K. Skrocki officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Contributions in Mrs. George’s honor and memory may be made to St. Ann’s Church Building Fund or to one’s own favorite charity.
