Dr. Melissa E. Fenwick

Dr. Melissa E. Fenwick, 38, of Danbury, wife of Michael D. Damici, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, December 28, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.

Dr. Fenwick was born in Danbury, December 11, 1974, daughter of Charles F. Fenwick of New Fairfield and the late Corinne (Goldstein) Fenwick, raised in New Fairfield  and attended New Fairfield schools.

Dr. Fenwick was a full time faculty member in the Justice and Law Administration Division at Western Connecticut State University teaching courses in criminological theory and research methodology.

Originally from New Fairfield, Professor Fenwick received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers College in Psychology.  She completed a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and completed her Doctorate at the University of South Florida.

A lifelong area resident, Dr. Fenwick enjoyed teaching, family, friends, gymnastics and animals.

In addition to her husband, Michael of two and one half years and father, she is survived by a brother, Daniel Fenwick; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Fenwick; mother and father in law, Carolyn and Richard Damici; sister and brother in law, Amy and Vincent Fagnani and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She also leaves behind her dog, Molly.

Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11 AM in Mountain View Cemetery, Route 37N, New Fairfield.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
