Helen S. Corona

Helen (Simon) Corona, 96 of Danbury, wife of the late John Corona died on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Danbury Health Care, Danbury.

Mrs. Corona was born in Methuen, MA, February 17, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Leya (Corey) Simon.

A resident of Danbury since 1929, coming from Lawrence, Ma, she attended local schools. 

Mrs. Corona was a retired group leader with the former Davis & Geck Co. (American Cyanamid Co.) of Danbury and also a retired waitress having been employed for many years at the King Neptune Restaurant of Ridgefield.

She was a member of the former Y.W.S.L.S. (Young Woman’s Syrian Lebanese Society), the Lebanon American Club Auxiliary and St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild all of Danbury.

Mrs. Corona is survived by a daughter, Marie Petrucci of Danbury, four grandchildren, a great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Corona was predeceased by a son, John “Jack” Corona,  a sister, Louise Felicissimo and by five brothers, Fred Simon, Edward Simon, Butch Simon, Samuel Simon and Charles Simon.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday evening at 6:30PM in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends following the Liturgy in St. Anthony’s Parish Hall.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to St. Anthony Maronite Church.

The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
