Ruth S. Buehler, a long time resident of Pound Ridge, died on January 20, 2012 after an illness. Born in Port Washington, NY, Ruth attended Syracuse University and Smith College, where she studied art and art history.  She was an accomplished children's portrait artist for many years following.  In 1943 she married Robert Buehler and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They were active in the community for five decades.  Ruth will be remembered for her leadership in the Pound Ridge Garden Club, including landscaping initiatives and design improvement for Scotts Corners, the Hamlet, and the Hiram Halle Memorial Library.  Her flower arrangements won many awards, and she often did arrangements for the Pound Ridge Community Church where she was a member.  Her art talents were a great asset to her husband's business, Weblon Inc., where she often worked with him in fabric designs for awnings, canopies, and boat covers.  She will be deeply missed by her friends in Pound Ridge, at Meadow Ridge, the retirement community where she spent her last years, and by her family: her daughter Barbara and son-in-law, Dale Laurin of New York City; her son Peter and daughter-in-law, Kati of Santa Barbara, CA; her grandsons Peter and Rudy and Rudy's wife, Sarah, and her great grandson, Jack.  A celebration of her life is being planned at Meadow Ridge, and memorial gifts may be sent to the Meadow Ridge Employee Appreciation Fund at 100 Redding Road, Redding, CT, 06896. Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
