Clifford R. Salvesen

Clifford R. Salvesen, 81 of Ridgefield, husband of the late Marilyn (Whittlesey) Salvesen, died on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center, Ridgefield.

Mr. Salvesen was born the Queens, NY, September 7, 1929, son of Clifford A. and Ragnhild (Ekroos) Salvesen.  He attended NY schools and was employed in advertising first with Kenyon Eckhart Advertising Company of NYC and later with Champion International Paper Co. of Stamford retiring in 1984 after 18 years of service.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past thirty-six years coming from Freeport, NY, he enjoyed tennis, woodworking and snow skiing.  He also volunteered as a little league coach.  Mr. Salvesen most especially enjoyed making memory books of personal photographs for his many friends which included humorous captions gained through his advertising career. He enjoyed the time spent with his family as his number one priority in life.

He is survived by a son, Douglas Salvesen of Andover, MA; five daughters, Karen Spencer of South Lake, TX, Laura Salvesen of New Fairfield, Diane Thiebaud of Plano, TX, Nancy Wolf of Southbury and Linda Stripp of Williamstown, MA; fourteen grandchildren and a great grandson.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield on Friday at 11 am.
