Jackie Remond


Jackie Remond, 88, of Danbury, mother of Jean Pierre Remond, Marie Szymanel and Yvette Southworth died on Thursday evening, January 13, 2011 at the Danbury Hospital shortly after her admission.

She was the wife of the late Jean Remond.

Mrs. Remond was born in Oberlin, Ohio, January 16, 1922 and attended Ohio schools.

An area resident since 1943, Mrs. Remond was a retired clerk with the service department of Sears, Roebuck & Company at their former Triangle St., Danbury location.

Mrs. Remond was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Auxilary and served as a former secretary, she was a member of the Danbury Senior Center and a weekly participant in the Tuesday morning art classes. She enjoyed bowling and trips to Foxwoods.

She was concerned about the welfare of animals and enjoyed her cats.

Her greatest joy was her family.  Jackie will be sorely missed.

In addition to her son, Jean Pierre Remond and his wife, Nancy of Danbury and her daughters, Yvette Southworth of Industry, ME and Marie Szymanel and her husband, Edward of Danbury, she leaves her step brother, Richard Sutfin of Florida; eight grandchildren, Leona Michaelson, Jennifer McGowan, Pamela Child, Scott T. Remond, Shawn J. Remond, Brian Szymanel. Dawn Stabel and Debra O’Leary; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Monday evening at 7PM in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:30PM.
