Margaret H. Pound

Margaret H. Pound, 87 of Ridgefield, wife of the late John C. Pound died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Pound was born in Flushing, NY, daughter of Martin and Josephine (Creegan) Gill.  She attended New York schools and graduated from the Mary Lewis Academy of Jamaica, NY and Katharine Gibbs School of New York City.  She was employed with Ingersoll Rand Corporation and Crucible Steel of New York and later Brietmeyer Associates of New Canaan.  Although employed, Mrs. Pound always considered herself first and foremost a wife, mother and homemaker.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1986 coming from the New Canaan-Darien area, she was a community volunteer for programs of service related to the needs of senior citizens.

She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, wall papering and was an avid pet lover.

A devout catholic, Mrs. Pound was a member of St. Mary Church of Ridgefield and also was found on a regular basis at the Adoration Chapel.

She is survived by two sons, Edward M. Pound of Morrisville, VT and Michael C. Pound of Ridgefield; four grandchildren, Stephany Sanderson, Kara Held, Emma Banks and Ian Willetts and four great grandchildren, Honora, Daphne, Gweneth and Damon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield with the Rev. Russell Augustine, parochial vicar officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM.
