Gloria B. Papas

Gloria Buris Pappas, 81 of Danbury died on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Glen Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danbury.

Gloria was born in Athens, Greece, December 15, 1929, daughter of Nicholas Buris and Natalie “Dolly” (Mourginis) Buris Papas.  She immigrated to the United States at the age of one with her parents and settled in Danbury where she has been a lifelong resident.

She attended local schools, graduated from Danbury High School-Class of 1946 and LaSalle University, Chicago, IL.

An accounting supervisor, business manager and office manager, Miss Pappas was a former bursar at Wooster School, controller at Doran Bros., Inc. of Danbury, office manager and accounting supervisor with Verlin Graphics/Mideastern Printing, Brookfield.

She was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury, a past president of the parish council, a past district governor of the Daughters of Penelope and  a past chairperson of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.

There are no immediate survivors.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Saturday, July 9th at 11 am in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Danbury with the Rev. Andrew Cadieux officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends will be received at the church on Saturday after 10:30 am.
