John J. Morrisroe

John “Jack” Morrisroe, 85 of Ridgefield, husband of Mary (Rogers) Morrisroe died at his home on Monday, November 7, 2011.

Mr. Morrisroe was born in Norwalk, October 12, 1926, a son of the late John and Margaret (Brown) Morrisroe.  Raised in Ridgefield, he attended Ridgefield schools, graduated from Ridgefield High School in the Class of 1944 and Danbury State Teachers College (Western CT State University).

A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Morrisroe was retired from SNET Co.  where he was employed for thirty-five years prior to his retirement.  He was an installation and PBX foreman.

Mr. Morrisroe was a member of the Marquette Council Knight of Columbus, American Legion, Founders Hall, the Early Bird Group and St. Mary Parish.

A motor home enthusiast, he travelled throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.  He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA).

In addition to his wife of thirty-seven years, Mr. Morrisroe is survived by a son, Peter J. Morrisroe and his wife, Nancy of New Milford, CT; a daughter, Lee Anne Boyle and her husband, Brian of Fairfield, CT; a sister, Anne Morrisroe of Ridgefield, CT; a brother, Francis “Bud” Morrisroe and his wife, Mary of North Haven, CT; seven grandchildren. Erin (Ryan) Healy, Sarah Morrisroe, Brendan Morrisroe, Aurore Boyle, Bernadette Boyle, Irene Boyle and Mary Boyle as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morrisroe was predeceased by his first wife, Irene (Therrien) Morrisroe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:15am in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Wednesday from 4 pm to 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory and honor may be made to St. Mary Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield 06877 or to Regional Hospice and Home Care, 405 Main St., Danbury 06810.
