Helen (Lukashewitz) Lozupone

Helen LozuponeHelen (Lukashewitz) Lozupone, 91, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born and raised in Manhattan, she graduated from Julia Richman High School. She became a spot-welder during the World War II war effort. After marriage to her husband Vito, she became a long-time resident of Brooklyn, New York, from 1944 until 2009. In January of 2010, she moved to Wilton Meadows Health Care Center.
Throughout her life, cooking, sewing, and "porch" gardening provided an outlet for her extraordinary creativity and innovation. For her entire life she continued her loving, optimistic and kind attitude, her smile reaching everyone who met her, including the dedicated staff at Wilton Meadows.
Her devoted family includes daughter Helen Vinci and her husband Len of South Salem, New York, daughter Christine Bielski and her husband Michael of Fort Myers, Florida, daughter–in-law Anastasia Cronk and her husband George of Norwalk, Connecticut; her grandchildren Alexander Lozupone and Anne Matsuuchi of Manhattan, Adam Sallemi of Brooklyn, Andrew Lozupone of Brooklyn, and Tori Bielski and Sarah Bielski of Fort Myers, Florida.
She is predeceased by her husband Vito Lozupone, her brother Phillip Lukashewitz, and her son Vincent Lozupone.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 3 pm to 5 pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, 785 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.
