Harriet Parks FordHarriet A. Parks Ford, 98, of Sandy Hook, CT, formerly of Danbury, died on Sunday evening, March 13, 2011 at Bethel Health Care surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Vincent Ford and the late Charles Darling Parks.

A Danbury native, Mrs. Ford was born on August 21, 1912, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Walsh) Lattin.

She attended St. Peter School and graduated from Danbury High School. In early years, she was employed in the hatting industry.

A lifelong Danbury resident, she moved to Sandy Hook to make her home with her daughter and son in law, Charlene and Kenneth R. Barney, Sr. and family.

A member of St. Peter Parish, she also attended St. Rose of Lima Parish of Newtown with her family.

She was a member of the Newtown Senior Center and enjoyed watching game shows, enjoyed her flowers, the NY Yankees and practicing her Catholic faith.

She loved people, made friends easily and devoted her many years to her family; and idolized them and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be sorely missed.

She is survived in addition to her daughter and son in law of Sandy Hook, CT, two sons, Donald J. Parks of Danbury and William V. Parks and his wife, Hilda of Pownal, VT; two additional daughters, Emily F. Valente and her husband, Lawrence of New Fairfield and Linda L. Scribner and her husband, Robert A. of New Milford; her cousins, Madeline and Ethel Walsh; twenty six grandchildren, sixty-two great grandchildren , eight great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

In addition to her parent and husbands, Mrs. Ford was predeceased by two sons, Charles D. Parks, Jr. and John A. Parks; three brothers, Joseph Lattin, Bernard Lattin and James Lattin and by a sister, Dorothy Miller.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and concern during this time of loss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 17th at 9:30AM in St. Peter Church, Danbury.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM.
