James E. Dyer

A Mass of Christian Burial for former Mayor and CT State Representative James E. Dyer will be celebrated on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10 am in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Danbury with the Rev, David W. Franklin, officiating. Interment will be private. Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, July 31st from 2 pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's honor and memory may be made to the Dyer Family Education Fund, Union Savings Bank, 100 Mill Plain Rd., Danbury 06811.

Former Mayor Dyer died on Tuesday, July 26th unexpectedly at his home at the age of 64.

He was born in Danbury, September 20, 1946, a son of Thomas J, and Mary (Murphy) Dyer. He attended Danbury schools, Danbury High School and graduated from Western CT State University.

Jim Dyer is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Alice (Wenzler) Dyer of Danbury, a daughter, Whitney Dyer of Danbury; three sons, LCpl Christopher Dyer of the U. S. Marine Corps, Brendan Dyer and Trevor Dyer both of Danbury; three sisters, Mary Sabas and Margaret Mayberry both of North Carolina and Eileen Jensen of Newtown as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces,grand nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Leo Dyer and a nephew, Donald Murray.
