Celia Basher David

Celia DavidCelia (Basher) David, 57, of Danbury, wife of Milan David, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Danbury Hospital.

Celia was born in Danbury, April 8, 1953, daughter of Louis F. and Mary (Dimyan) Basher.  She attended Danbury schools, graduated from Danbury High School – Class of 1971 and Mt. Ida College, Newtown, MA and resided in Boston until 1977 when she returned to Danbury.

A fashion and jewelry consultant, she was employed with the former D.M. Read Co., Gantos and Premier Jewelry Designs and assisted in the management of the family owned and operated, American Oriental Bakery.

Upon the birth of her first child, Celia curtailed her employment for many years and devoted her time to her family and was actively involved in the lives of their children.

In later years, she resumed her fashion and jewelry consulting business on a part-time basis.

She was a past president of the King St. PTO and Danbury High School PTO, active in the scouting program with her children and a member of St. Anthony Maronite Church and its mahrajan committee.

In addition to her husband, Celia is survived by two sons, Andrew David and Colin David both of Danbury; her aunt and uncle, June and George Dimyan of Danbury, her special sisters, Doreen Goncalves, Susan Dimyan and Dawn Lauf and her special brothers, George Dimyan, Michael Dimyan and Joseph Dimyan; her special  and cherished friend, Maryann Ferguson and many special angels and cousins.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the loving care given to Celia by the staff of 11 East at Danbury Hospital and concern for her family.

The Liturgy of the Resurrection will take place on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Jean Younes officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday from 4 PM to 8PM.
