Jack A. Croce

Jack A. Croce, 91 of Ridgefield, CT and Lake Worth, FL, died at his Ridgefield residence on Monday, March 28, 2011.

He was the husband of the late Josephine (Mickut) Croce.

Mr. Croce was born in the Bronx, NY, November 2, 1919, son of Agostino and Maria (Barchi) Croce.  He graduated from New York schools and was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran.

Upon his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Croce became a Connecticut State Trooper serving with former Troop A of Ridgefield, CT, was reassigned and retired in 1968 as Lt. Commander of Troop L of Litchfield, CT. He retired after twenty years of service.  Mr. Croce later (1968-1980) became head of internal security for the Perkin-Elmer Corporation.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past fifty-one years coming from Fairfield, he was a past post commander of the American Legion of Ridgefield, a past member of the Ridgefield Police Commission and helped establish the first full time police department for the Town of Wilton. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Mr. Croce enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.

He is survived by a son, James A. Croce of Dresden, Maine; two daughters, Mary Jo Costabile of Ridgefield and Jacqueline C. Schipke and her husband, Norman of Glastonbury, CT; six grandchildren, Gino Costabile, Charlotte Croce, Marianne Croce, Jackson Schipke, Bradley Schipke and Joanna Schipke as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.

There will be no calling hours.
