Anna Basile

Anna BasileAnna Basile, 91 of Ridgefield, passed away on Sunday, March 27th, 2011. She will be remembered by her sweet personality and her great love of family and friends. Anna was born on October 11, 1919 and raised in White Plains, NY where she lived for most of her life, she spent 8 years in Ridgefield, CT, a town that grew to become her second home. 

Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and knitting with which she made many beautiful pieces that she gave to family and donated to charity, a sign of her loving personality and generosity.

Anna married Peter Basile in 1938 and they had two children together, Grace and Ann.

She moved to Hawaii for a few years to live with her daughter and son-in-law Grace and Bill Somerville. Years later, she moved to Ridgefield where she lived with her daughter Ann Ciccatelli, husband Joe and daughter Amanda for two years. The next seven years she lived in Congregate Housing where she made great memories and friends, and the last nine months she spent at Filosa for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Danbury.

Anna is grandmother of Grace and Bill Somerville’s two children Bill and Peter Somerville, Ann and Joe Ciccatelli’s daughter Amanda, and she is great grandmother of Matthew and Laura.

One of six children, Anna was survived by a brother Henry and two sisters Lillian and Josephine, and her brother Nicolas and sister Rita are deceased. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011 at 11 am in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield, CT. Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, NY.  Contributions in Anna’s memory and honor can be made to Filosa for Nursing & Rehabilitation, 13 Hakim St., Danbury 06810 or Congregate Housing, 51 Prospect Ridge, Ridgefield 06877.
