Elsie M. Braaten

Elsie M. Braaten, 88 of Ridgefield, CT, formerly of Tonawanda, NY passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Braaten was the wife of the late Ralph A. Braaten.

Elsie was born in Niagara Falls, NY, September 20, 1923, daughter of Sigfrid and Anna (Lindberg) Olson. She  graduated from LaSalle High School, and in 1944 graduated from the E.J. Meyer Memorial  School of Nursing.

Mrs. Braaten was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served in the Nursing Corps. In later years, as a registered nurse, Elsie volunteered for Hospice of Buffalo retiring in the late 1980’s.

Mrs. Braaten was a member of the Church of the Nativity of Tonawanda, NY.

Elsie is survived by a son, Rich Braaten and his partner, Antonio Munoz of Ridgefield, CT; three grandchildren, Jamie, Mollie and Kelsey Braaten, her former daughter in law, Dee Braaten of Ridgefield Ct, and brother in law Nelson Braaten, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was predeceased by her daughter Margaret,   son Tom, and her her  brother, Bill Olson.

A Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2011 at 1:30 PM in the Church of the Nativity, 1530 Colvin Blvd., Tonawanda, NY with Pastor Dan Schifeling, officiating.
