Robert (Bob) M. Wallbrunn, MD

Robert (Bob) M. Wallbrunn, MD, a longtime resident of Ridgefield and Wilton passed away at his Wilton home on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, four daughter s and six grandchildren.

Dr. Wallbrunn was born in New York City on June 30, 1926 to Leo and Edlyn Wallbrunn. He graduated from New York University and received his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York in 1953. Bob did his internship and residency in surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He joined the Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Major. Dr. Wallbrunn spent the majority of his professional career at Putnam Medical Center in Carmel, New York where he was Chief of Surgery and retired from private practice in 1994.

An avid reader, Eagle Scout, he loved to travel. Bob and Betty were longtime members of Silver Spring Country Club. They spent winters at their home in Vero Beach, Florida. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Bob had a great love for animals, especially his dogs. His wit and ability to tell entertaining stories, his love of music and his compassion will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Betty, four daughters and their families, Jayne Wallbrunn of Black Rock, Connecticut; Sandy and Jonathan Evans of Boxford, Massachusetts and their children Cameron and Lee; Amy and Chris DePalma of Wading River, New York and their children Casey and Andrew; Betsy and Rob Stoner of Haiku, Hawaii and their children Buzz and Abby.

A Memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 103 Main Street, Ridgefield, Connecticut on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 1pm.
