Peacock — Grant Allen, Jr., New York Jeweler, died February 3, 2010, in Redding, CT, at age 86.
Beloved husband of 62 years of Jo Ann Peacock. Also survived by six loving children: Christine Bauler (husband Brad), of Framingham, MA; Grant Peacock III (wife Lawson), of Tucker, GA; Kathleen Benchley (husband Nathaniel), of New York City; Mary Jo Teetor (husband Mark), of Poultney, VT; Frances Stanulonis (husband Mark), of Groton Long Point, CT; and Andrew (wife Lizz), of Newry, ME; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Peacock took over the fine jewelry business started in the 1920s by his father, Grant, Sr. He maintained the old-world attention to individual customers’ needs while updating a boutique still rooted in turn-of-the-century manners.
When he retired from Grant A. Peacock, Inc. in 1989, his daughter Kathleen took over the business.
Born in Garden City in 1923, he attended The Lawrenceville School and graduated from Princeton University in the Class of  1946.
He served in the U. S. Navy During World War II and eventually retired with the rank of Commander.
During many years in Ridgefield, CT, he was a member of the Town Republican Committee and the Ridgefield Men’s Republican Club, although in his later years he became a democrat; Board member of the Ridgefield Community Center; President of the Ridgefield Lions Club; on the Board of Governors of the Silver Spring Country Club; and the U. S. Naval Reserve.
His three siblings, Janet, Mary and George, all predeceased him.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 12 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, Georgetown, CT, 06829.
