Ann T. Nimer

Ann Theresa Nimer, age 92, of Brookfield, beloved wife of the late George G. Nimer, passed away at Danbury Hospital, May 24, 2010.

Ann was born in Newark, New Jersey, daughter of Solomon and Philomena (Sayer) Farah.  Her formative years were spent in Newark, growing up with her siblings, James Farah, Jean Farah Zimmer and Nussrie Farah. She graduated from St. James High School and then worked as a secretary at the Edison Corporation in New Jersey.  Prior to her move to Brookfield, Ann was a longtime Danbury resident, having moved to Connecticut after her marriage, in 1947. Throughout the years, she and George devoted their lives to building and nurturing their family, consisting of three children and eight grandsons….one player short of a winning baseball team, according to Ann, an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Georgeann Shields and her husband, William of Brookfield, her son, Michael Nimer and his wife, Dona of Milton, GA and her son, Gary Nimer and his wife, Mary of Brookfield.  In addition, Ann is the devoted grandmother of Bryan Nimer of San Diego, CA, Christopher Nimer and his wife, Alison of Boston, MA, Jeffrey and Matthew Nimer of Brookfield, Jason Nimer of Kennesaw, GA, Eric Nimer of Atlanta, GA, and William and Zachary Shields of Brookfield.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephew in Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio and Florida.

The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 10 A.M.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

There will be no calling hours.
