Peter J. McManus

Peter James McManus died at his home on Tuesday August 31 in Danbury. Peter was 65 years old. He was the husband of Angelina Bell McManus.

Peter was born in Danbury, April 24,1945, a son of Patricia “Patsy” (Potter) McManus of Ridgefield and the late James McManus.  He was raised in Ridgefield where he attended local schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School.
Mr. McManus, a U.S. veteran honorably discharged as sergeant with the United States Air Force.

A former Ridgefield Police Officer, he later became a corporate security officer retiring due to ill health.

A life- long area resident, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Danbury and the CT Veterans Association  as well as a volunteer cook at the Saturday Nite Rodeo in Sherman.

In addition to his wife and mother, Peter is survived by a daughter, Andrea DiGiovanni of Stony Point, N.Y. a stepson, Jason Lee of Virginia; a brother, Mark (Liz) McManus of Ridgefield; four sisters, Michele (John) Masi of Danbury, Eileen (Edward) Dempsey of Avon, CT, Maureen (Richard) Gawlik of Andover, MA and Dr. Sheenah (Philip) Mische of Ridgefield; three grandchildren, Olivia, Ava and Grace; his special aunt, Miss Rita Potter of Ridgefield as well as many many nieces, nephews, additional aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Sunday, September 5, 2010 from 1PM to 3PM.

Interment will take place in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery at the direction of the family.
