Marshall Leibowitz, 80, Longtime Ridgefield Resident

Marshall Leibowitz, a resident of Ridgefield since 1976, died of cancer at Danbury Hospital on November 24th after a long illness. He was 80. He is survived by his beloved Ruth, a teacher at Wooster School in Danbury; two children, Susan of Los Angeles and Jon of Bethesda, Maryland; and three grandchildren, Emma, Julia and Eva.
Mr. Leibowitz, who was born on a February 5th 1930 in New York City, graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, and attended Cornell University and NYU, receiving a BS in Chemistry. He spent four decades as a chemical engineer at a variety of companies, including the Timex Corporation, and is the holder of more than a dozen patents. He was a life-long music lover and particular admirer of American folk music. A contrarian to the core, he was an avid participant in the current events discussion group at Founders Hall.
