Chris D. Larsen

Christian "Chris" David Larsen, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 1st, in the New Fairfield home that he built. Chris was born Aug 27, 1934 in Norway, the son of the late Katrine and David Larsen and came to the United States as an infant. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Helena (McGee) Larsen.

Chris attended local schools, graduated Danbury High School in 1952, and proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1955-57. Chris was a retired member with 50 years of service to the International Union of Operating Engineers. He loved working on heavy equipment and machinery, and helping neighbors and friends with their building projects. Chris earned his private pilot’s license and loved time around planes and speaking to other pilots.

Chris was a lover of life. He read poetry, loved playing the harmonica poorly, and driving his Model A in the New Fairfield parades or out for late night hamburger runs.  He loved going to rusty truck and equipment sales, the taste of a good piece of cherry pie with ice cream, and photographs of his family and loved ones. He was very proud of his family.

In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by his children, C. Eric and Malissa Larsen of Chapel Hill, NC,  Lauren and Steven Greenberg of Danbury, CT and Elizabeth and Michael Kim of Newton, Ma..
His cherished grandchildren include Christian and Gavin Larsen, and Maya and August Kim, who loved him as “Pop Pop”.  He is also survived by his loving sister Gloria Pinckney of Danbury, and many nieces and nephews.

Chris will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury at a time to be announced.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Monday from 5PM to 8PM.
