Frank P. Krauss

Frank P. Krauss, 92. of Danbury, husband of Edna (Smith) Krauss died on Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Krauss was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 9, 1918, son of Frank and Katherine (Dzandel) Krauss.  He attended and graduated from Ardsley NY schools. He was a self-employed building contractor for many years then he went to work for the city of NY and retired as a carpenter-mechanic with the local carpenters union.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the North African Campaign and also in the Italian and European Theatres. He served as a combat medic in charge of his unit.  He was very proud of his service and would tell of many interesting stories to his children and grandchildren.

A resident of Danbury for the past three months coming from Wappinger’s Falls, NY, Frank and Edna moved in with their daughter Roe.  He lived in Ardsley NY for 30 years before moving up to Ossining, NY for 15 years.  He then moved up to Wappinger’s Falls for his retirement.  He loved all his neighbors and friends there and thanks them for all their caring and help.

In addition to his wife, Edna of sixty-three years, he is survived by three daughters, Joan Lindauer of Poughquag, NY, Marjorie Seibold of Easton, CT and Rosemary (Roe) D’Uva-Urnea of Danbury; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; 2 nephews and 6 Nieces.  He was predeceased by his only son, Frank P. Krauss Jr. of Mahopac NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:15am in St. Mary’s Church, Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday from 6PM to 8PM and Friday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM.
