Marion (Demko) Hrabcsak

Marion (Demko) Hrabcsak, 92, of Danbury, wife of the late Stephen Hrabcsak and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Hrabcsak was born in Maude Mine, PA on March 25, 1918 and lived in Pennsylvania until 1945, when she, her husband and daughter moved to Danbury.  She resided in Danbury ever since.

Mrs. Hrabcsak was a long time member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and Altar Society having served as a former president.

She was a terrific cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and church.  She was a baker of the communion bread for many years.

Marion enjoyed traveling to California and cross country several times and was always ready for adventure.  She will be greatly missed by her three children, Stephen Hrabcsak  and Virginia Hawkes both of Danbury and Brenda Skala of Newbury Park, California as well as her granddaughters, Kimberly Fitzgerald and Laura Skala and great grandson, Logan Fitzgerald.

Many years ago, Laura gave her the nickname of “the Rose” because she thought she was so beautiful.  Everyone from that day on always called her by that name and she will be forever be that beautiful “Rose” in our memory.

The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated this evening at 7PM in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 13 Pembroke Rd., Danbury with the Rev. Michael G. Popson officiating.

Burial will take place on Friday, December 31st at 10:30AM in Section 23, St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at St. Nicholas Church today from 5PM to 7PM.

Contributions to St. Nicholas Church would be appreciated.
