Ronald Paul Gleissner

Ronald Paul Gleissner, Sr., 69, of Danbury, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday morning, May 4, 2010.  He was the husband of Joyce Ann (Bondatti) Gleissner.

Ron was born in Danbury on Sept. 22, 1940, a son of the late Sylvan and Christine McStay Gleissner.  He attended St. Peter’s School and was a 1958 graduate of Danbury High School.  He proudly served in the US Army for two years.  Ron attended broadcasting school in New York, working then for WGAF and later as the news director at WINE radio for 10 years.

Ron then began his new career as a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury; he was later promoted to a counselor and retired after 27 years of service in 1995.

An active parishioner at St. Peter’s in Danbury, Ron was also a volunteer fireman at Wooster Hose Company in Danbury.

Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.  He will be sorely missed but his spirit and memory will live on through generations.

Besides his wife of 46 years , survivors include two sons: Ronald P., Jr. and his wife, Marnie, of Bethel.  Eric A., and his wife, Cheryl, of Danbury.  His loving grandchildren: Molly, Abby, Chloe, Eric Jr. and Matthew will miss him very much.  One brother,  William, and his wife Annellen, of Brookfield.  His sisters, Marita Schulz, and her husband, Richard, of Danbury and Christine McMillian and her husband, Donald, of Brookfield.  His sister-in-law, Therese Gleissner of Danbury.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother, Silvan and a sister, Jean McNally.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 7th at 1pm at St. Peter’s Church, Danbury with the Rev. Monsignor Blase Gintoli, officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Contributions in Ron’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
